Purpose

Becoming a youth leader at the Point Youth Ministry is an exhilarating opportunity to ignite passion, foster connections, and make a genuine impact in the lives of young people! As a leader, you’ll lead discussions and create unforgettable experiences that resonate with today’s youth while pointing them to Jesus Christ. Responsibilities

• Youth leaders will focus on building meaningful relationships with the students of Grand Point Church.
• Leaders will assist with weekly small group discussions on Sundays or Wednessdays, depending on the campus, and partner with the youth pastor to foster deeper relationships with Christ.
• Our goal is to have at least two leaders per small group to help guide the discussions.
• Leaders are encouraged to participate in activities such as retreats and other events as life allows. This is at no cost to our leaders.

Qualifications

• New leaders must have a passion for working with students in a group setting and for seeing all our students as followers of Jesus.
• You don’t need to be an expert in teenagers or Christianity, but we’re seeking people who are passionate about students and being an example of a Christ follower.
• All volunteers must pass a full federal and state background check.

Onboarding Plan

New leaders are required to meet with the campus youth pastor or director of student ministry to hear why the potential leader feels called to the Point Youth Ministry. New leaders will have the opportunity to observe for three weeks before committing to the youth ministry. During the observation period, potential leaders are paired with one of our seasoned leaders to shadow. This helps to determine if they’re a good fit for the ministry and if we’re a suitable place for the leader to volunteer and commit their time.

At Grand Point, joining our Kids Ministry team means you’ll get to play an important role as you help the next generation (nursery – 5th grade) take their next steps to find and follow Jesus in a fun, life-changing environment! From diaper changes to discipleship, our kids need faithful adults to help them grow spiritually while they grow physically!

Our heart as the Connections Team is to create an atmosphere where every person who walks through the doors of Grand Point Church feels seen, known, loved, and valued.

We believe we are not just welcoming people into a building; we are helping create a space where people feel at home and ready to encounter God. And it might start at the door. For many people, a smile, a “good morning,” or a simple act of welcome may be the very first kindness they receive that day. That moment can shape how they experience everything that follows

What we do:

As Door Greeters, you are often the first personal expression of welcome people experience. You help set the tone for a church that feels like home from the very first moment.

• Greet every person with a warm smile and genuine welcome
• Say simple phrases like:
  • “Good morning!”
  • “We’re glad you’re here!”
  • “Welcome to church!”
• Open doors with intentionality and hospitality
• When possible, position yourself outside the building to create a more personal connection before entry
• Be attentive to people who appear new or uncertain
• Help guide visitors toward the next step (Lobby Host, Kids Point, or Guest Services)
• Pray before your shift and remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit throughout
• Greet people as they leave with simple blessings like “Have a good week” or “See you next week.
• Remain stationed at entrance doors, creating a consistent and welcoming presence.
• Arrive 20 minutes before the service and stay 5–10 minutes after it begins. When the last song of the service begins, make your way back to the doors and remain there, serving until the next shift arrives.
• Be attentive and ready to serve; always looking for ways to help people feel comfortable and seen.
• Smile, make eye contact, and offer appropriate handshakes or hugs when welcomed.
• Avoid gathering in groups while serving; stay engaged with guests.
• For guest questions or first-time visitors, personally walk them to Guest Services and return promptly.
  • We are “takers, not pointers”, we don’t just give directions, we walk with people.

Time Commitment:Ideally at least one Sunday (both 9 and 11 am services) per month

• What is hospitality?

• Ministry Team: Care Ministry
• Reports to: Shippensburg Care and Prayer Team Coordinator
• Time Commitment: 10 hours/month

Purpose

The prayer team spends time in prayer as a group and on their own praying over the prayer requests that have been submitted to the church.

Responsibilities

• Spend time in prayer for those on the prayer list
• Provide any prayer requests or updates to the Prayer Team Coordinator
• (Optional) Pray with individuals at GPC Ship as needed, be designated prayer team member for our Sunday morning services in Shippensburg on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Must be a follower of Jesus Christ committed to a growing relationship with Him.
• Must be a prayer warrior.
• Must be comfortable leading in prayer for people.
• Must be able to keep the confidentiality of the individual prayer requests as needed.

Onboarding Plan

• You will meet with the Prayer Team Coordinator for training.

• Ministry Team: Connections Team – Security
• Reports to: Security Team Coordinator
• Time Commitment: Ideally at least 2 Sundays/month for both services, arriving at 8:15AM
• Length of Commitment: 1 year

Purpose
To be a key leader for any security needs during services and to other security team members to create an atmosphere where every person who walks through the doors of Grand Point Church feels seen, known, loved, and valued.

Responsibilities
• Remain present for the entire designated timeslot, serving together as a team to cover the entire building.
• Communicate any concerns to coordinator and team members immediately.

Qualifications
• Possess an awareness of safety and security measures and the ability to be keenly observant and alert.
• Knowledge of the building and key security areas; ensuring there is sufficient coverage.
• Willing to participate in trainings as needed.

Onboarding
• Attend training to gain a strong overview of the role and the resources available to you for reference and support.

• Ministry Team: Worship & Tech
• Reports to: Campus Pastor – Shippensburg
• Time Commitment: 1-2 Sundays per month, arriving at 7:15AM and serving for both services
• Length of Commitment: 1 year

 

Purpose
Provide high quality video, image, and lighting presentations that foster distraction free vertical worship, and next step engagement

Responsibilities

• Be attentive and present media at the appropriate time i.e. before a lyric is sung, and as a point or scripture is being read, or when a video is supposed to play.
• Understand the basics on how to make corrections, to fix typos, audience look cues, stage display layouts, and other functions of ProPresenter.
• Know what’s going on in production for the entire Worship Experience, staying attentive to the flow of the entire experience. Planning Center outlines are provided in both paper in room, and in digital form through your PCO App for this purpose.
• Be able to troubleshoot ProPresenter and lighting related problems, as quickly as possible to minimize impact on the Worship Experience.

Qualifications

• Attend and run ProPresenter for worship rehearsals and run ProPresenter for scheduled worship experiences.

• Ministry Team: Worship & Tech
• Reports to: Campus Pastor – Shippensburg
• Time Commitment: 1-2 Sundays per month, arriving at 7:15AM and serving for both services
• Length of Commitment: 1 year

 

Purpose
Provide support and oversight to all Worship Experience Tech team members serving.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Tech Team for rehearsals and worship experiences.
• Help provide basic training to new volunteers, as well as help the people in the tech ministry toward their personal next steps either in their role, or in personal lives.
• Know to what’s going on in production for the entire Worship Experience, staying attentive to the flow of the entire experience. Planning Center outlines are provided in both paper in room, and in digital form through your PCO App for this purpose.
• Understand the standards for every area of the tech ministry to help reinforce and support the primary volunteers in each role.
• Be able to troubleshoot every tech system in use, as quickly as possible to minimize impact on the Worship Experience.

Qualifications

• Attend and mix for the worship rehearsal and Mix Livestream audio for all scheduled worship experiences in a weekend

• Ministry Team: Worship & Tech
• Reports to: Campus Pastor – Shippensburg
• Time Commitment: 1 service on Sundays at 9am, 1-2 times per month
• Length of Commitment: 1 year

Purpose
Provide clear and creative shots consistently, being “the eyes” for our online worship experiences.

Responsibilities

• Operate a camera for scheduled worship experience, listening to the direction and cues given by the Livestream Director/Video Switcher.
• Know how to operate the camera, understanding how to adjust focus, zoom, iris, gain and small color corrections, as well as the specific role of the camera type being operated i.e. slider, front camera, etc.
• Understand the basic standards for getting a well framed shot, understand the principle of thirds, basic camera shots, and always follow the director’s instruction.
• Have a clear understanding of the order of service, as well as have an idea of important moments that need to be captured.

• Be able to troubleshoot audio related problems, as quickly as possible to minimize impact on the Worship Experience.
• Be an active learner, the more you know about the system you are responsible for as well as the other systems around you, the more you can possibly help negate distractions in a Worship Experience when issues come up.
• Respond promptly to scheduling requests through Planning Center and communicate changes in schedule ASAP so that
