Nursery/Toddler Assistant Leader – Greencastle

• Reports to: Nursery/Toddler Coordinator
• Time Commitment: About 2-3 hours per week, serving minimum of two Sundays per month.
• Length of Commitment: 1 year—we evaluate this role annually to make sure volunteer feels it’s still a good fit.

Purpose
The Nursery/Toddler Assistant Leader is a vital role that assists the nursery leader by guiding volunteers, engaging children, and connecting with parents. They will help prepare & create a safe, positive, nurturing environment, while caring for children to learn that they are loved by God & their caregiver.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Nursery/Toddler Leader in curating & maintaining a safe and engaging environment for the children.
• Maintain communication, to know, support, and celebrate the Junior leaders.
• Assist the room in a schedule of transitions to ensure a smooth engaging environment.
• Understand & know the dynamics of the nursery room and their needs.
• Facilitate and connect with leaders to learn helpful information and needs of a child.
• Serve a minimum of twice a month.
• Help train new Junior volunteers with engaging with children, interacting with parents, and performing Sunday duties.
• Ensure all policies & procedures are performed with excellence- from diapering to story time.

Qualifications

• Must be a follower of Jesus Christ committed to a growing relationship with Him.
• Enthusiastic about Christ-centered ministry to children.
• Willingness to participate in training and receive certifications as needed.

Onboarding Plan

• Have all appropriate Background clearances to engage with children (no older than 5 years)
• Meet with the Coordinator for a 2-hour training.
• Shadow for 2 Sundays with a current Nursery/Toddler Leader.
