Usher/Room Host – Greencastle
This role seeks to create an atmosphere where every person who walks through the doors of Grand Point Church feels seen, known, loved, and valued. As room host (ushers), you help shape the experience inside the room, ensuring that every person can find a seat, feel comfortable, and be positioned to engage fully with the service without distraction. Team plays a vital role in this by helping prepare the environment each week. It’s more than arranging a room; it’s creating a space where people can feel at home and be ready to hear the Word of God.
Time commitment: Ideally at least two services per month minimum. Available serving times:
- 8:15 AM-10:30AM
- 10:15AM-12:30PM
What we do:
- Remain stationed near your designated area of the Sanctuary 30 minutes before service until 30 minutes after service.
- Warmly greet people as they enter and personally guide them to available seats or connect them with another host.
- Recognize and welcome all regular attenders in your area.
- Recognize and welcome all first, second, third-time guests. Introduce them to bathrooms, coffee station, Welcome Center staff (for first time information), and Next Steps Bulletin Board.
- Give full attention to all guests interested in taking their next steps to find and follow Jesus Christ.
- Pray with new believers or take to Next Steps area or Prayer Room for prayer.
- Introduce serving opportunities as requested.
- Introduce and encourage participation in small groups.
- Identify available seats and communicate with teammates to help direct people to appropriate seating.
- Assist guests with seating and help create a welcoming environment inside the worship center
- Help in specific moments, such as handing out materials or serving communion.
- Find and share resources such as where to find Circle information, serve information, or information related to announcements and even sign-ups.
- Direct guests to their Next Steps – membership, baptism, child dedications, prayer, financial guidance .
Qualifications
- You must like people!
- Comfortable with walking people around the room and asking people to slide to make room in the row.
