Elementary Small Group Assistant Leader – Chambersburg

- Reports to: Elementary Coordinator
- Time Commitment: About 2-3 hours per week, serving minimum of two Sundays per month.
- Length of Commitment: 1 year
Purpose
The Elementary Small Group Assistant Leader is a vital role that helps lead the Elementary classrooms ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade well by guiding volunteers, engaging children, and connecting with parents. They will help prepare & create a safe, positive, nurturing environment, while inspiring children to learn and have intentional conversations to help them develop an authentic faith.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Elementary Leader in curating & maintaining an age-appropriate curriculum.
- Maintain communication, to know, support, and celebrate the Junior leaders.
- Assist in guiding the room in a schedule of transitions to ensure a smooth engaging environment.
- Understand & prepare materials ahead of time so you can lead the room with ease.
- Facilitate & assist to lead the group by understanding kids show up at all different points in their faith journey.
- Express the innate desire to encourage kids to love and care for each other as God cares for them.
- Serve a minimum of twice a month, engaging in lessons as needed.
- Help train new volunteers with engaging with children, interacting with parents, and performing Sunday duties.
- Qualifications
- Must be a follower of Jesus Christ committed to a growing relationship with Him.
- Enthusiastic about Christ-centered ministry to children.
- Willingness to participate in training and receive certifications as needed.
Onboarding Plan
- Have all appropriate Background clearances to engage with children (no older than 5 years)
- Meet with the Coordinator for a 2-hour training.
- Shadow for 2 Sundays with a current small group leader.
